La Fede Della Madonna

Making the Special Italian Rosary

I Was Still Searching:
A few days before I was to begin making the Special Italian Rosary I was still looking for information on how to make the bead knots that look like roses. I also wanted to know more about the colors that may be associated with the Rosary.

In my quest I was given a few names of some ladies to telephone that were Rosary makers. One of the ladies was Amelia Paulick. She nor the others had the information that I was looking for. They had never heard of such a Rosary.

October 7th was right around the corner. I had to make a decision about those bead knots, I decided to make a bracelet out of the same cord using the bead knot pattern from the Franciscan Crown Rosary. The bracelet consisted of ten Hail Marys and one Our Father. I also decided to attached a Miraculous Medal to it.

I wore that bracelet for those 170 day to serve as:

(1) A reminder not to forget to make my bead knot each day and,
(2) To witness and spread the word about the rosary whenever asked about the bracelet.

On October 4, 1993 on the Feast of St. Francis, Amelia Paulick called me. She was intrigued over our phone call that I had made to her a few days previous. She asked me if I would mind if she made a Rosary for herself such as the one I was inquiring about.

I was delighted. The message was about to spread. I was not going to be the only person left in this world to make such a Rosary. Amelia was inspired to make her bead knots with a different pattern that she created herself.

A thought had occurred to me to ask Connie Ciaramitaro, one of my best friends in Missouri, to join us in making this very Special Italian Rosary. Even though I told her the Rosary was a personal Rosary she decided to make not one but two of them. She made one for her daughter and one for her son. I admire her for such an undertaking. Connie also used another pattern for knots from a Rosary that she got when she went to Medjugorje.

Each of us Amelia, Connie, and myself, made the bead knots to complete the very "Special Italian Rosary", for the next 170 days. Although we were never physically together to make the Rosary, I prayed that each of us would complete it.

Over those 170 days from October 7, 1993 to March 25, 1994 Amelia and I kept in contact by phone. We had not met yet. We discussed making the Rosary and checked up on each others progress.

I found a new Christian friend through Our Blessed Mother Mary, and was pleased. Connie, and I saw each other often enough to ask about the progress we were making on the Rosary.

I Believe I Was Led To Share
I believe that I was led to share what I could remember about this very "Special Italian Rosary". I believe the idea was planted in me to make a Rosary, such as the one Nonna, (my grandmother) made, from the first day that I saw it as a small child. It is incredible that after a half a century had passed that this desire would manifest and surface once again. I am glad it did.

This document was created with the hope that you the reader will make the "La Fede Della Madonna", the "Special Italian Rosary" as I call it and spread the word about it.

I thought the making of this "Special Italian Rosary" was a lost devotion, and a lost art. I hope that the "La Fede Della Madonna", is now preserved and passed on from generation to generation and never forgotten or lost again.

An Inspiring Prayer
May you always pray to know,
and do the will of our Heavenly Father.
May the peace of Jesus Christ, be with you.
May the guidance of The Holy Spirit, be also with you
May the comfort of Mary, our Blessed Mother,
always be at your side.
May the "La Fede Della Madonna" Rosary, help you find
Faith, Hope, and Love.

With prayer, faith, hope, and trust; and to the best of my ability, I have included the directions that came from the information and research that I collected.

Please feel free to pass on this information with the history and complete text for making the "La Fede Della Madonna", The Faith of The Blessed Mother, Special Italian Rosary for yourself, and how to pray a 15 decade Rosary.

You can see a picture of the bracelet that I made and wore for those 170 day. This bracelet was my reminder not to forget to make my bead knot each day. It would also serve as a witness to spread the word about the rosary whenever asked about the bracelet, which had become ratty looking. I would put color on it to brighten it up so it wouldn't look too bad at a formal function.

The Miraculous Medal is no longer on the original bracelet that I wore for those 170. I removed it and place it on a copper Medical Alert ID bracelet that I made for myself.

Other Prayers Honoring Our Blessed Mother

" Mary, Conceived Without Sin
"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us pray for us, O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."

Magnificat
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.

I'd like to give a very special thanks:

To The Blessed Virgin Mary, for inspiring me and helping me with this project.

To Nonna, my grandmother, who made the original "La Fede Della Madonna" that I remembered as a child.

To my mother who spoke of the Rosary her mother made.

To my Aunt Janie, Nonna's youngest child, who could recall information about her mother's Rosary.

To a Prodigy friend, Robert Wheatley, for his notes and encouragement.

To a new friend, Amelia, who I have never met yet but have only spoken with over the phone, who decided to join me in making the "Special Italian Rosary", and would call to checking up on my progress

To my dear friend, Connie, for making the "Special Italian Rosary", and giving me the support I needed to continue, and checking up on my progress

To Jenny Scott, a name given to me two days before I completed the 170 day project, who translated and spelled some of the Italian words for me over the phone.

Last but not least my husband, who is not a catholic, who patiently took time to read the information that I have written for this manuscript.
